Job Title: Director of Assessment and Evaluation

Reporting Relationship: Vice President for Academic Affairs, CAPS

Unit: National & Global

Summary of Position:    The Director of Assessment and Evaluation is the primary coordinating officer for data and analysis related to National Global (N&G). Responsibilities include broad data analysis (e.g. retention, predictive analytics & enrollment analysis) and reporting on academic improvement efforts, as well as providing evidence of student learning. The Director provides visionary leadership to ensure the proper resourcing of activities and documentation of systems that support effective student learning. The Director collaborates with key leaders across the institution and external to the institution to lead assessment practice that is consistent with the needs of many diverse stakeholders (accreditors, curriculum developers, instructional technology, faculty, administration, N&G leadership team etc.).


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Academic Assessment
    • Assists the academic units in optimizing the use of outcomes for continuous improvement of N&G program offerings 
  • Facilitates comprehensive program review and accreditation support 
  • Monitors and provides timely reports on program evaluation practices, regulatory compliance developments, student diversity, accreditation requirements, program-specific standards, and other performance benchmarks of import to N&G 
  • Conducts quantitative and qualitative academic research that informs N&G vision and academic initiatives 
  • Provides training on assessment best-practices, program development, and program review 
  • Supervises the Academic Assessment and Evaluation team in efforts to collect and query data as well as creating reports 
  • Student Data
    • Works closely with the Information Technology Data officer to create a student predictive analytics program to identify possible retention concerns 
    • Creates and maintains user-friendly data dashboards to increase faculty and administrative use of data
  • Executive Leadership Data Support
    • Provides executive oversight of data collection and analysis activities 
    • Ensures structures and systems are in place within N&G for data management, comprehensive program review, market research, and accreditation support 
    • Operationalizes N&G’s comprehensive systematic evaluation strategy 
    • Identifies macro-trends in data to provide strategic evaluation strategy 
    • Ensures that meaningful indicators of effectiveness for N&G academic programs are clearly identified and leads the coordination of relevant assessment activities 
    • Provides executive oversight of data collection and analysis activities 
  • Supervision of the Data Analyst and Data Technician within the Assessment and Evaluation department

Education

  • A Master’s degree required, with strong assessment oversight experience or data collection and analysis experience
  • Terminal degree preferred

Experience

  • Demonstrated effectiveness as a leader
  • Demonstrated administrative/management capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • College level teaching experience
  • Experience serving adult and online students

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated skill in statistical and data analysis
  • Ability to interpret data
  • Demonstrated skill with data visualization tools
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative communication ability
  • Knowledge of current issues and emerging developments related to academic program fidelity
  • Practical understanding of research design and methodologies
  • Excellent organizational skills and the capacity to supervise multiple large-scale initiatives concurrently
